Gartner just released its inaugural Critical Capabilities for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) report, showing CrowdStrike® with the highest overall score, out of 21 vendors for use case Type A or “forward leaning” organizations.
Such organizations represent the most advanced and demanding customers, characterized as early adopters in the endpoint protection market. In addition to receiving the top score among the most forward leaning organizations, CrowdStrike was among the top three scores across all three use cases covered in the report, including more budget-focused companies that are slower to adopt new technologies. The chart below shows vendor product scores for use case Type A or “forward leaning”

The Gartner document is available upon request from CrowdStrike. The Critical Capabilities research is a continuation of the analysis conducted for the 2018 Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms and uses the same data collected during that research period. The Gartner Critical Capabilities Report enhances the Gartner MQ with deeper insights into vendors' product and service offerings by providing product ratings of key capabilities in different usage scenarios. CrowdStrike believes the Critical Capabilities report is an important complement to the Gartner MQ for EPP because the former focuses solely on product capabilities, rather than on factors such as vendor market share. More specifically, the Critical Capabilities report helps organizations understand which vendors offer the solutions that will best fit their needs by segmenting the assessments into different use cases. We firmly believe the reason CrowdStrike scored so high in all use cases outlined by Gartner is because of our modular architecture, which offers customers the flexibility to choose the best solution to fit their needs. The CrowdStrike Falcon® platform unifies and delivers IT Hygiene, next-generation antivirus (NGAV), endpoint detection and response (EDR), managed threat hunting, and threat intelligence — all via a single lightweight agent. We urge organizations to review both reports —
the Gartner Critical Capabilities for EPP and the companion Gartner Magic Quadrant for EPP — to gain a holistic view of the vendors in the market and the positioning of their product and service offerings.
