Environment
Protecting our planet for today and tomorrow.
Our commitment
Climate change poses significant threats to our ecosystems and our economy. Our commitment to protecting our customers and communities extends to protecting our shared home — planet Earth. We’re reducing the environmental impact of our cloud platform and operations, which also helps our customers reduce their overall footprint.
How we’re reducing our footprint
As a cloud software company with a small real estate footprint, we focus on areas where we can make the greatest environmental impact. Our strategy targets greenhouse gas emissions associated with computing, facilities, and travel — aligning with our values, priorities, and stakeholders’ needs.
-
Set science-based targets
We submitted our commitment letter in January 2024 to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with science-based net-zero targets.
-
Quantify impacts, risks, and opportunities
We measure the most significant environmental impacts of our operations, are conducting a climate risk assessment, and continually work to identify opportunities for reductions.
-
Promote remote work
Our remote-friendly culture not only promotes work-life balance but also reduces employee commuting and our need to operate large offices.
-
Empower CrowdStrikers’ sustainable actions
We welcome our employees’ ideas to conserve CrowdStrike’s use of natural resources and also encourage them to build sustainable habits in their daily lives.
-
Prioritize green building
The majority of our largest office buildings are LEED- or ENERGY STAR®-certified and we prioritize green building practices in the construction, build out, and renovation of our facilities.
-
Provide sustainable work environments
We conserve natural resources through energy and water efficiency, source material reduction, material reuse, and recycling.
-
Minimize data center impact
We include environmental impact criteria in the selection and planning of CrowdStrike data centers and prioritize the use of renewable energy.
-
Encourage sustainable travel
We encourage virtual meetings and offer employees a travel booking system that shows the emissions associated with their flights so they can make informed decisions.
-
Reduce footprint through carbon offsets
We work with ClimeCo to further reduce our carbon footprint by purchasing and retiring high-quality, certified carbon offsets.
-
Comply with regulations
We are committed to conducting our business in alignment with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
-
Incorporate best practices
We are a member of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) to enhance our knowledge, collaboration, and action on sustainability issues.
CrowdStrike data centers
We select CrowdStrike data centers based on environmental impact criteria, prioritizing locations with sustainable power and a lower carbon footprint. We prioritize cloud providers and vendors using renewable energy. We continually strive to increase the watts-to-performance ratio of our computing, which helps curb emissions.
When feasible, we choose servers with lower power demands and adjust the power supply based on demand to minimize energy use. We’re also commissioning new customers to data centers with a reduced environmental footprint. And we’re optimizing our methodology for impact reporting.
Collective environmental action
We empower CrowdStrike employees to suggest and implement ideas for reducing our environmental impact. Our Green Team, a global employee interest group, drives education and inspires action.
Tree planting campaign with Forest Nation, swag swap program and other opportunities for employee action.
Expert speaker series with climate change activists.
Monthly green challenges to help employees build sustainable living habits such as avoiding single-use plastics and reducing the impact of their travel.
Facility updates include adding bulk snacks, washable utensils and dishware, and refillable drink stations.
Minimizing our impact through and carbon offsets
To further minimize our carbon footprint, CrowdStrike has partnered with ClimeCo to identify, purchase and retire a variety of high-quality, certified carbon offset projects ranging from rainforest conservation to landfill methane removal.

*Carbon offset purchase disclosure pursuant to California’s Voluntary Carbon Market Disclosures Act ("VCMDA", also referred to as Assembly Bill 1305). Information current as of December 20, 2024.
Environmental Disclosures per VCMDA: Although we have begun taking steps towards achieving net-zero (see above), at this time, none of our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions have been quantified yet and specific information regarding how our carbon emissions reduction claims are being met, how interim progress is measured and any third-party verification of our GHG emissions data or claims, as well as other information required under VCMDA, are subject to our ongoing efforts to develop our GHG emissions reduction strategy and are therefore not available at this time. These efforts may result in the revision of our emission reduction targets.
