CrowdStrike Scores Highest Overall for Use Case Type A or “Forward-Leaning” Organizations in Gartner’s 2019 Critical Capabilities for Endpoint Protection Platforms

Gartner just released its 2019 Critical Capabilities for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP) report, showing CrowdStrike® with the highest overall score out of 20 vendors for Type A use case.

Type A organizations, also referred to as “lean forward” organizations, embrace new technologies very early in the adoption cycle. According to Gartner, “These organizations tend to focus on best-of-breed solutions that address their business, technology and security needs and have the capacity to integrate, develop or build custom-made components as required. They see the use of technology as a competitive differentiator.“

In addition to receiving the highest score among the forward-leaning organizations, CrowdStrike was among the three highest scoring vendors across all three use cases covered in the report: from forward-leaning, to early adopters, to the more budget-focused companies that are slower to adopt new technologies.

Provides Deeper Insights

The Critical Capabilities research is a continuation of the analysis conducted for the 2019 Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms, where CrowdStrike was just named a Leader, and uses the same data collected during that research period. The Critical Capabilities Report enhances the Gartner Magic Quadrant with deeper insights into vendors’ product and service offerings by providing product ratings of key capabilities in different usage scenarios.

The chart below shows all vendors’ product scores for “forward- leaning”  organizations:

Key Findings in the Report

Gartner outlines three key findings that we believe align perfectly with CrowdStrike Falcon®® capabilities, and serve as the foundation for our scores across all use cases.  Gartner states that:

  • “Cloud-based EPP solutions are delivering faster time to value, lower administration costs and more agile product improvements than traditional on-premises deployments.”
  • “Prevention is still the primary goal of EPP solutions; however, prevention is no longer enough. Evasive threats require fast and effective attack detection and response capabilities.”
  • “Solution complexity and attack complexity are driving an increased need for incident response support and skilled administrators. As a result, solution providers are increasingly delivering managed detection and response capability.”

According to Gartner, “This is a transformative period for the endpoint protection platform market. Cloud-delivered solutions that focus on all aspects of Gartner’s Adaptive Security Architecture (i.e., Predict, Prevent, Detect and Respond) are disrupting the status quo.”  We could not agree more.

CrowdStrike Falcon® Flexibility

We firmly believe the reason CrowdStrike scored among the highest in all use cases outlined by Gartner is due to our modular architecture, which offers customers the flexibility to choose the best solution to fit their needs. The CrowdStrike Falcon® platform unifies and delivers: Falcon Discover™ IT hygiene; Falcon Prevent™ next-generation antivirus (NGAV); Falcon Insight™ endpoint detection and response (EDR); Falcon OverWatch™ managed threat hunting; and CROWDSTRIKE FALCON® INTELLIGENCE™ threat intelligence — all via a single lightweight agent.

Review Both Gartner Reports

We urge organizations to review both reports — the Gartner Critical Capabilities for EPP and the companion Gartner Magic Quadrant for EPP — to gain a holistic view of the vendors in the market and the positioning of their product and service offerings.
