P&S Transportation Stops Browser-Based Attacks and Reduces Remediation Time with CrowdStrike
Challenges
- Growing browser-based threats and malicious extensions
- Limited visibility into browser activity
- Operational overhead from legacy web security controls
Results
- Blocks an average of four high-risk browser events per week
- Eliminates incidents that previously required ~4 hours each to remediate
- Recorded zero malicious extension remediations in one month
- Reduces reliance on legacy DNS and web filtering tools
CrowdStrike Solutions
- Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser
Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, P&S Transportation is one of the largest and fastest-growing flatbed logistics providers in the United States. With approximately 1,000 users, hundreds of trucks, and a distributed network of offices and operating companies, the organization manages a complex IT environment that continues to expand through acquisitions.
As employees increasingly relied on browser-based workflows across SaaS applications and remote environments, the browser became a critical attack surface. P&S Transportation needed to secure user activity directly within the browser without adding friction or relying on legacy network controls.
By deploying CrowdStrike Falcon® Seraphic® Enterprise Browser, P&S Transportation gained real-time, browser-layer protection to stop threats before they could execute, reduced operational overhead and strengthened security across its distributed workforce.
Eliminating Blind Spots in Browser Security
P&S Transportation’s security team faced a growing volume of browser-borne threats, including deceptive AI-powered extensions, fake PDF readers, and malicious download sites accessed by employees.
The traditional endpoint protection tools it used detected many of these threats only after execution, requiring time-consuming remediation and repeated user training. At the same time, unmanaged and polymorphic browser extensions created a significant visibility gap.
The organization had previously relied on legacy DNS filtering to defend against browser-based threats, but this approach introduced operational overhead and failed to provide consistent protection for users working outside the corporate network.
Extending Zero Trust to the Browser
P&S Transportation deployed Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser to address these challenges by enforcing security directly within the browser session.
“We initially brought Seraphic in to get a handle on browser extensions and quickly realized it was a much broader capability,” said Jeremy Aughenbaugh, Security Operations Manager at P&S Transportation.
The team began with a focused rollout, starting with IT and expanding to business users across HR, marketing, and operations. The work included tuning policies, building SaaS allowlists, and defining exclusions to support business workflows.
Over time, Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser enabled the organization to move beyond legacy controls. The team replaced Group Policy-based configurations and progressed toward consolidating DNS and web filtering technologies.
Blocking Attacks in Real Time and Reducing Operational Burden
Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser quickly delivered measurable results by stopping threats before they required remediation.
“It’s now blocking the kind of attacks that used to cost us hours of remediation, and those incidents simply don’t escalate anymore,” Aughenbaugh said.
The security team observed an average of four high-risk browser events blocked per week at the source. These incidents previously required approximately four hours each to investigate and remediate.
A comparison with a sister company that had not deployed Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser reinforced the impact. Over the course of one month, P&S Transportation recorded zero malicious extension remediations, while the sister organization experienced multiple incidents during the same timeframe.
Because Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser operates transparently within existing browsers, user disruption was minimal. “The ability to disable protection on a single machine for testing has been huge for us,” Aughenbaugh said. “It lets us quickly prove whether an issue is related, which keeps user frustration down and speeds up troubleshooting.”
Driving Consolidation and Continuous Security Improvement
With Falcon Seraphic Enterprise Browser in place, P&S Transportation is working toward consolidating legacy web security technologies. Granular URL and category-based controls are enabling the organization to replace overlapping tools while extending protection to users regardless of location.
At the same time, ongoing collaboration with CrowdStrike has become a core part of the company’s security strategy. “The weekly sessions with the team have become a cornerstone of how we run browser security,” Aughenbaugh concluded. “Every meeting leads to another incremental improvement, and it genuinely feels like we’re in a safer position week over week.”
