What is AWS GovCloud (US)?

AWS GovCloud (US) (often referred to simply as “GovCloud”) is a public cloud region that is operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). GovCloud was designed to address regulatory and compliance requirements that affect many U.S. government agencies, state and local governments, and other institutions that leverage sensitive data.

What is unique about GovCloud?

GovCloud provides the same high degree of scalability, performance and security associated with AWS. In addition, it is operated and managed entirely by U.S. personnel, and it has been validated by independent assessors to meet or exceed the requirements of a wide range of U.S. regulations. What certifications does AWS GovCloud meet?

AWS GovCloud (US) has been validated to meet the requirements of the following regulations:

  • Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Impact Levels 2, 4, and 5
  • Department of Defense (DoD) Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG) Impact Levels 2, 4, and 5
  • U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
