Gartner highlights Identity Threat Detection and Response as one of the top trends in cybersecurity in 2022
Gartner has highlighted Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) as one of the top trends in cybersecurity in 2022, along with Attack Surface Expansion and Digital Supply Chain Risk and others. According to Gartner, "Acceleration of credential misuse continues, leading to a tragic increase in security incidents." Gartner also shares, "The more-sophisticated attackers are now actively targeting the IAM infrastructure itself." We believe this aligns with the findings of the CrowdStrike 2022 Global Threat Report: 80% of cyberattacks today leverage identity-based attacks.
The key recommendations for organizations from Gartner include:
- Prioritizing the security of identity infrastructure with tools to monitor identity attack techniques, protect identity and access controls, detect when inclusions are occurring, and enable fast remediation.
- Using the MITRE ATT&CK® framework to correlate ITDR techniques with common attack scenarios.
